As I was reading through chapter 2 a few things resonated with me right away, first being the one point perspective that is used by Stanly Kubrick. I am a fan of his movies not only because of the storylines but also the way the movies emulate art. The way he uses the one point perspective in "The Shining" adds to the tension of a scene and the anticipation of what is to come. Which leads me to the statement that everyone is a critic. I have had many discussions with people about different films and what types of films people like, we even went around the classroom in the beginning of this class and stated our favorite movies. Some of the movies that people said I question to myself how that could be anyone's favorite movie. I'm sure others probably thought the same thing about "Whiplash" which is my favorite movie. I enjoy films that are works of art, may be shot in a different way, or really make the audience think about what is happening. I am not a fan of the big blockbuster movies that follow a specific scripted story line and are being made to make money. After reading the chapter I see how everybody sees and uses films for different reasons.
